Matt Findel-Hawkins Blog

Well folks, what a heady 12 months it’s been for OPMA. This time last year I was putting the finishing touches to the guest list for our Presidents Lunch at The Ivy and all was fine and dandy. Then a few months later after a brilliant Presidents Lunch and the usual hectic work schedule we were hit with the shocking news regarding our former Treasurer that I’m sure you all heard about. I’m not allowed to write about it for legal reasons but it was a total nightmare and the future of the association didn’t look bright.

But amazingly we managed to re-organise, pull in some outstanding debts and with amazing support from our members and the members of council, rebuild the association financially. I’ve taken over the position of treasurer with new security measures put in place to ensure I don’t raid the OPMA bank account!! We’ve liaised with the police and hope to have some justice for the association in the immediate future. Watch this space folks!

We’ve engaged a brilliant web creative team to come up with this brand new site which was badly needed. I hope you agree it’s smart, user friendly and will serve us well over the coming years. As I mentioned the association is financially very secure, has a wonderful new publisher in ‘Big Al’ Mckibbin and hopefully has just completed a brilliant and successful Presidents Lunch at The Groucho. Well, I’m writing this before the lunch has taken place so I hope I didn’t get too merry and noisy. No, I’m sure I wouldn’t…… Didn’t…….. Did I?

Anyhoo, if you are one of the many, many members and associate members that have attended our events over the last year, supported us morally and financially and given your time and advice freely I truly thank you. And for those of you that are new to OPMA, our site and who we are, welcome, please join us and get involved.
